I've been taking photos ever since I had a little lavender Instamatic-type camera back in the mid-80s. I shot loads of film as a child and teenager and continued to shoot film throughout college. (Sometimes, I still do it now! Shocking, I know.) I started shooting digitally in 2004 and a whole new world of possibilities opened up to me - ones that didn't require the expense and hassle of a darkroom.
Despite my long history with the camera, it was only just recently that I really felt like I could attach the label of "photographer" to myself. I suspect it will be a while yet before I feel comfortable saying "I'm a photographer!" when the inevitable question of "What do you do?" comes up.
Light is the driving force behind my work. I shoot as much as possible in natural light. The way the light plays off a child's smile, how a sunbeam shines through someone's hair...those are the little details I aim to capture.
Many of my subjects are children, specifically babies, but I shoot people of all ages. There's something beautiful about every stage of life. I love capturing those little slice of life moments and preserving them for future generations.
In addition to people, I also love to shoot nature, food, architecture and a myriad of other subjects. If there's light to be had, you can find me shooting away.
